Two South Korean airlines, Air Busan and Jeju Air, are gearing up to introduce direct flights to Bali. This is a responding to the increasing demand from South Korean tourists to visit the Indonesian island.
“International flights to Bali remain highly attractive on a global scale,” said Handy Heryudhitiawan, General Manager of state airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) for Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, on Thursday.
He shared that both airlines are preparing to launch direct routes to Bali, although the exact start dates are still being finalized.
However, Heryudhitiawan noted that Jeju Air has already secured approval from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation to operate flights to Bali from Incheon and Busan.
Currently, direct flights are offered by Garuda Indonesia and Korean Air, ensuring a strong connection between the two destinations.
Ngurah Rai Airport serves 19 domestic routes operated by 13 airlines and 33 international routes managed by 36 airlines.
In the first quarter of this year, the airport handled 5.1 million passengers, marking a 17 percent increase from 4.4 million passengers during the same period in 2023. The airport is expected to accommodate a total of 23.6 million passengers by the end of this year.

According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), South Korea ranked fifth among the top 10 countries sending tourists to Bali between January and April. During this period, the number of South Korean tourists visiting Bali surged by 37 percent. It rising to approximately 82,000 from around 60,000 in the same period of 2023.
In addition to the South Korean airlines, AP I announced that Etihad Airways will commence direct flights to Bali from Abu Dhabi starting June 25, utilizing Boeing 787-900 aircraft.
